COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Management System - UET Taxila Information technologies and the Internet have produced new channels of communications, managing business transactions, and technology strategy needs. Traditional and new firms are shaping the electronic commerce environment. These firms face tremendous challenges in bringing their business models and technological disruptions to electronic commerce. They are dealing with the challenges by using a cross-disciplinary approach. This course will analyze the changes that are underway now and in the future on industries and information technologies. This analysis will involve the utilization of lectures, cases studies, and discussions with insights from business models, engineering management, and technological, economic, and system concepts. The course will introduce current technological developments (e.g., intelligent agents, pricing, data mining, security, Semantic Web, wireless, business transformation, enterprise engineering) and some of the underlying industrial marketing principles. Then, it focuses on business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) electronic commerce from several viewpoints. In addition, important issues such as value chains, technology strategies, and the future of the Internet are presented.
