The University of Engineering
and Technology (UET) is located at Taxila near the historical
site of the ancient Julian University. With the phenomenal increase
in students’ enrollment at UET Lahore in Seventees, a
plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering
and Technology Lahore was conceived.
As a result of that, the University
College of Engineering Taxila was established in 1975. For the
initial three years of its age, it functioned at Sahiwal. In
1978 it was shifted to its permanent location at Taxila. The
College continued its work under the administrative control
of the UET Lahore till 1993.
In October 1993, it received
its charter as an independent university under the University
of Engineering and Technology Taxila Ordinance 1993, offering
Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in different disciplines
of Engineering.
It offers degrees in nine engineering
disciplines i.e. Computer, Telecommunication, Software, Electrical,
Electronics, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical and Industrial
engineering at the main campus, and Mechatronics and Electronics
at its sub campus Chakwal established in 2005.
