E-Rozgar Center Inauguration


University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, marks the third e-Rozgaar center. It is the first center to be launched in Northern Punjab. Like the previous centers, this one was also inaugurated by Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif on 1st of June, 2017. He was warmly welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Dean Dr. Adeel Akram and Chairman Dr. Hafiz Adnan Habib. Along with Dr. Umar Saif, other notable guests present were the Director General E-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Entrepreneurship Nabeel Qadeer and Program Manager Mehak Jamal, the execution forces behind the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology & Tourism (YASAT)'s joint project, "Chief Minister's eRozgaar Program". This event followed in the Sports center of the university which was temporarily converted into an auditorium. A remarkable number of 400 people attended the event. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar expressed how immensely proud and honored he felt that UET was chosen to be the first center in Northern Punjab and advised his students to value ethics and morality over anything else in life. Dr. Umar Saif praised the interest displaced by the faculty and administrations of UET, Taxila in making this center a reality. He explained to the audience how 1.5 crore rupees are exported as skill from Pakistan and how it can contribute greatly to the growth of the economy if properly utilized. Now this laboratory has been notified as Umar's Lab in UET Taxila due to exceptional contributions of Dr.Umar Saif in the field of IT.

About UET Taxila

With phenomenal increase in students' enrollment in 1970's, a plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore was conceived. As a result of that, the University College of Engineering Taxila was established.
