1. MoU with Hasselt University, Belgium

A Memorandum has been signed between University of Engineering & Technology, Taxila Pakistan (UETT) and Transportation Research Institute, Hasselt University (IMOB-HU) concerning collaboration between the two universities. The objective of this memorandum is to provide a framework within which collaborative activities and projects will be undertaken and specific program areas elaborated between UETT and IMOB-HU. The MOU was signed on 01 Nov 2012 . From University of Engineering & Technology, Taxila Pakistan (UETT), Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Kamal Director Taxila Institute of Transportation Engineering signed the MOU.
It is hoped that this will encourage and improve the collaboration in fields of Science and Technology between the two nations. By signing the Memorandum the two parties confirm their intention to collaborate to promote academic and educational exchange.

Purpose and framework

The purpose of the collaboration is:
  1. Faculty exchange in master’s program
  2. Value Addition Short Courses
  3. Representation of Pakistan in Scholarships schemes for short courses such as “Road Safety Training for Professionals and Road Safety in low and middle income countries”
  4. Formulation of SPLIT Master’s and PhD Program.
  5. Joint Research in Specific areas of Transportation Engineering including Driving simulator, Mass transportation, Transport Behavioral Modelling traffic congestion modeling GIS route planning etc.
  6. Joint Consultancy Projects can be established between UETT & IMOB-HU focusing on transportation behavioral modeling, simulation and traffic safety issues and related domains.

2. MoU with National Highway Authority

An MOU has been signed between National Highway Authority (NHA) and University of Engineering & Technology Taxila (UETTAXILA) on 27th February 2013.
As the National Highway Authority has Established a Highway Research & Training Centre (HR&TC) , it has shown interest in the joint research to address the problems associated with the deterioration of various highways and roads in Pakistan. In this connection the Research project named “Improvement of Mix Design Technology for Pakistan’’ has been initiated.

As per the MOU, and the expertise of UETTAXILA will be utilized for achieving the desired solution of the problems by developing a strategy of mix design to suit our local conditions.
The Parties shall provide the Resources that are required from each of them according to the Research Plan and any improvements therein deemed necessary which may arise during the currency of the research project. The collaboration also implies the timely and diligently completion of the project with technical support in utilization of equipments and effective use of all available equipment.

In case of requirement, new equipment will also be acquired and utilized on the project and University will provide the technical research associate and various other staff for the timely completion of the project.
