Research work being carried out at the department has direct
bearing on the needs of national industry. This research is partially
funded by the Directorate of Advanced Studies, Research and Technological
Development of the University and Higher Education Commission.
Projects, to meet the requirements of the neighboring industries
are also conducted in the department. The faculty members and
postgraduate students have published a number of research papers.
The faculty members of department have published 45 research papers
in national and international journals/conferences in 2007. The
department also arranges conferences, seminars and workshops in
various areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The faculty
members, postgraduate students and prominent researchers from
home and abroad participate in these seminars.
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
Program
The Department has well-established Ph.D program in Electrical
Engineering. The program was started in 2001 and 31 students have
been registered. The PhD Degree is awarded after compliance of
all requirements of Higher Education Commission. So far 6 students
have successfully completed their Doctorate Degrees.
The department has 8 PhD supervisors doing research in Control,
Electronics and Power Engineering. Three PhD faculty members of
the department are included in the list of PhD supervisors approved
by Higher Education Commission. Three well established labs: Multimedia
& Vision Lab, ASIC Design & DSP Lab, and Industrial IT,
Control & Automation Lab are available for PhD students. Opto-Electronics
lab for postgraduate research will be established in near future
by the funds provided by Higher Education Commission.
M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
Program
The department started its postgraduate program in 1984 and has
been offering courses for the degree of M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
The Master of Science program is offered in the following specializations:
• Control
• Electronics
• Power
The master degree courses are aimed at bringing the students abreast
with the most recent developments in their fields of specialization.
These courses are offered both for the part time as well as the
full-time students. At present more than 90% students are enrolled
in the part -time program. Most of these students are working
