UET Taxila was established
in 1975 as constituent college of UET Lahore. University
have 10000 alumni since its inception, Graduates of university
are successfully in position at higher level organizations
and most of them are enterpenureres in various industries.
In 2006 Alumni Association of UET Taxila was established
to build a strong relation of university graduates with
their alma mater. By the efforts of association 1400 alumni
had already been registered. 3rd Reunion of UET Taxila
Alumni was organized on Saturday April 26, 2014 at Avari,
Lahore. More than 350 alumni of UET Taxila since from
1st batch participated in the memorable evening. Objective
was the facilitation, linkage and liasoning development
of alumni with their alma mater to promote and establish
mutually beneficial relations ship between the University,
its alumni and other key stake holders for academic, professional
and social sectors. It was remarkable step taken by Alumni
Association to connect experienced senior and junior alumni
with each other. Industrialist, Executive officers of
top ranked companies of Pakistan were invited as alumni.
Five Gold medals on merit bases were announced by CEO’s
various leading industries of Pakistan. Focal persons
were nominated as regional coordinators of alumni association,
they will promote further networking of alumni in coordination
with UET Alumni Association.
President Alumni Association Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Kamal
appreciated the efforts of the team for holding a successful
get together. He launched some new programs of the association
and requested for financial assistance from well off alumni
for university endowment fund which will be utilized for
the assistance of deserving students and also for merit
based scholarships.
Vice Chancellor UET, Lahore, General Muhammad Akram khan
was guest of honor of the ceremony, he emphasized the
pivotal role of Alumni for their alma mater and appreciated
the efforts of UET ,Taxila for getting back of alumni
towards their parent institute.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas Chaudhary highlighted
the core objectives of alumni association to convene alumni
evening and he offered all alumni to show their ownership
for university matters with due participation and involvement.
He also emphasized that Alumni should visit university
even once in a year to show their active participation
in research and academic matters of university and be
an active part of various academic and administrative
bodies of the university. They can bring various projects
for the betterment of the university.
Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister and Deputy Chairman
Planning Commission was the chief guest of the ceremony.
He appreciated the efforts of Alumni Association, UET,
Taxila and the step taken to unite alumni at one place.
He emphasized the importance and role of such kind of
forums as creation of strong bond between alumni and university,
he also emphasized that to increase contributions for
the empowerment of the university, as in west the biggest
donation is available in the form of alumni funds which
have diversed utility for the bona fide students. In the
end Chief Guest distributed shields among alumni committee
members and key persons from alumni as token of acknowledgment
for their efforts for alumni association.
