2nd ONE DAY SEMINAR ON “ROAD
SAFETY ISSUES IN PAKISTAN”
Held on 17th October 2012
At Conference Hall, Admin Block, UET Taxila
TITE (Taxila institute of Transportation Engineering)
organized a one day seminar on Road Safety Issues
in Pakistan on 17th October 2012. This was the
second Seminar on this issue held in UET Taxila.
In the first Seminar, which was held on 31st may
2012, Dr. Kamran the Chief Organizer had announced
the formation of STARS (Society for Traffic and
Road Safety) under the umbrella of Taxila Institute
of Transportation Engineering (TITE) and this
second seminar was held with the efforts of the
STARS with the following main objectives in mind:
• introduce traffic safety culture
• introduce safety rules
• suggest solutions relating road safety
issues
• create awareness among students
• get a positive outcome
Taxila institute of transportation engineering
is a unique institute of its own kind in Pakistan
and aims to prove as a focal point for education
and research facilities in the field of Transportation
Engineering. The Chief guests were Mr. Zafar Abbas
Lak Inspector General NH&MP and Mr. Nisar
Ahmad Saroya Deputy Inspector General NH&MP.
The Chairperson was Professor Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad
Kamal who is also the Director of TITE.
The Chief Guests told the participants about
the recent trends in Pakistan on the issues of
Traffic safety and the efforts of NH&MP to
reduce the accidents and crashes. He told the
participants about the various problems being
faced and the solutions to overcome the problems.
A discussion session was also held in which the
participants and students of transportation engineering
asked various questions. At the end the University
souvenirs were presented to the guests as a token
of thanks for sparing their valuable time to educate
the staff and students of the university.
