The “2023 IEEE SPS Seasonal School on Computer Vision Applications in Robotics (CVAR)” will take place on 14-17 February 2023 at Taxila, Pakistan, an ancient city just 30 Km from the Capital city Islamabad. Taxila is a city of the Gandharan civilization, sometimes known as one of its capitals, whose history can be traced from early microlithic communities at the Khanpur caves up to almost 1000 CE. Taxila was a hub of Buddhism, a centre of learning, an urban metropolis and a meeting point of various cultures, namely the Achaemenids, Greeks, Mauryans, Scythians, Parthians, Kushans, Huns and eventually the Muslims.

The school will be held at University of Engineering & Technology, Taxila in collaboration with Swarm Robotics Lab under National Centre of Robotics and Automation (NCRA). 

The school will bring together renowned researchers from academia and industry who will share their expert knowledge on the latest theoretical/algorithmic/practical advancements in image processing and computer vision as applied to robotics and automation. The event will also be comprised of Hands-on Workshop, Project Exhibition/Competition, and Industry Corner for the products showcase.

We encourage participation of a spectrum of faculty members, researchers, including students and industry practitioners. Attendees will also benefit from networking opportunities in a friendly and stimulating environment. This event will also provide an opportunity to academia and industry to bridge the gap between academic research and industry ventures.

Workshop

The workshops will be conducted on 14th and 17th February 2023. Two hands-on workshops are planned at the school:

  • Hands-on Workshop on Robot Operating System.
  • Hands-on Workshop on Computer Vision on the Edge.

The workshop sessions will be primarily focused on practical aspects. The detailed contents of the workshops will be shared soon.

The school will also provide opportunity to the students to showcase their projects in the following key areas (but not limited to):
