Professor Ir Dr Mohd Sapuan Salit
- Professor Ir Dr Mohd Sapuan Salit is an expert in mechanical engineering and composite materials. He is a prominent researcher in the field of natural fiber composites. His research and development work on various local natural fibers, particularly kenaf, has led to the commercialization and development of various products, including sugar palm plants for starch. This is evident by the commercialization of three patents and publications. He has published more than 500 publications. His h-index is 62 (Scopus), with a citation of 13,575. Professor Mohd Sapuan was a founding Head of the Advanced Engineering Materials and Composites Research Centre at UPM. He is currently the Head of the Laboratory of Biocomposite Technology, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), UPM. This laboratory is part of HiCOE in Tropical Wood and Fibres. He was also the founding Chairman of the Society of Sugar Palm Development and Industry Malaysia. He was also the immediate Past President of the Asian Polymer Association based in IIT Dehli for ten years and serves as an Honorary Member of the association. He is the first and the only Malaysian elected as a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers, International USA. As a reputed expert in natural fiber composites, he was invited to review over 1000 journal papers in his areas of expertise. He served as a reviewer of international grants for research agencies such as the Qatar Foundation, the Swiss National Research Foundation, the Research Council of Sultanate of Oman, the Dutch Research Council, the Austrian Science Fund, and many more. He also contributed as a member of the editorial board of international journals such as the Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites by Sage (Q2), Defence Technology by Elsevier/ KeAi China (Q2), IOP Functional Composites and Structures and Non-Linear Engineering by De Gruyter (Scopus). He organized 19 journals’ special issues as guest editor.
Dr. Vladimir Vukovic
- Dr. Vladimir Vukovic is a Senior Research Lecturer specializing in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Energy Reduction in the Built Environment. With a diverse academic background spanning mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, and computational science, Dr. Vukovic earned his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, focusing on predicting respiratory health impacts in office building environments. Before joining Teesside University, he held key roles in renowned organizations such as Exergy Ltd and the Austrian Institute of Technology, where he led impactful projects in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Vukovic has been recognized for his outstanding contributions, receiving awards from institutions such as the Austrian Institute of Technology, ASHRAE, A&WMA, and more. His research interests encompass sustainable building design, BIM, digital construction twins, predictive controls, indoor environmental quality, and the integration of artificial intelligence in the built environment. Dr. Vukovic is currently leading the DTA3 project, worth an £11 million EU H2020 initiative, and has played pivotal roles in other notable projects, including inteGRIDy and eDREAM. Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Vukovic is actively engaged in external roles, serving as the Deputy Director of the Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA) in energy and contributing to research collaborations internationally. He has also founded V-LAB Ltd to commercialize research results and actively participates in industry-academia collaborations, demonstrating a commitment to knowledge valorization. Dr. Shoaib Ahmad Malik

Dr. Malik holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK, specializing in structural health monitoring of composite materials. Dr. Shen Lida
- Shen Lida, Ph.D., is a Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation professor at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He also serves as an assistant to the dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and deputy director of the Additive Manufacturing Research Institute at the same university. His research interests encompass additive manufacturing (3D printing), bio-manufacturing, and bionic robot manufacturing. He has led over 20 national, provincial, and ministerial level projects, authored more than 130 academic papers, with nearly 70 included in SCI, and holds 35 national invention patents, with over 20 more in application. Additionally, he has received six provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. Engr. Maqsood Ali Kamboh
Engr. Maqsood Ali Kamboh, MS, PE, a Pakistani-American businessman, serves as the President and CEO of TSI Engineering, Inc., a leading construction company in the United States with operations in five states. With over 34 years of experience in Civil Engineering, he is an alumnus of the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, and holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from California State University, USA.
Mr. Ali’s contributions to academia include recent seminars on ‘Engineering Business Development at GIK Institute, UET Lahore, COMSATS Islamabad, and a Professional Engineering Seminar at Avari Hotel, Lahore. Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawab
Dr. Yasir Nawab, currently a professor (tenured), is a globally acknowledged researcher in the domain of textiles and composite materials. He did a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fiber-reinforced composite materials from Université de Nantes, France, and Post-doc & HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) from the University of Le Havre Normandy, France. He is listed among the top 2% highly cited scientists worldwide by Elsevier in 2023. He has completed 24 funded R&D projects worth PKR. 158 million (One million USD), whereas 3 research projects worth PKR 231 million (1.8 million USD) are in progress. He is the founding Director of the National Centre of Composite Materials. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles, 9 books, 3 patents, and 54 conference communications, including several keynote talks. Eleven Ph.D. and 55 MS Engineering students have completed their degrees under his supervision. He has been awarded HEC’s Best University Teacher Award in 2017, the Dice Leadership Award in 2018, and the National Engineering Excellence Award by IEP in 2024.
Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid
Prof. Muhammad Abid has been Director of Interdisciplinary Research, Campus Director, Chairman, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering in COMSATS University Islamabad for the last 4.5 years. Over the last almost 18 years, he has served as one of the best teachers, researcher, and administrator. He served as Dean and Professor at GIK Institute for over three years. He holds valuable industrial and professional experience in one of the largest engineering concerns in Pakistan, having worked there for more than eight years. Dr. Mohsan Haider
Dr. Haider is an accomplished composites engineering manager with over eighteen years of experience in composite product design, process development, product validation, transition to production, lean composite manufacturing, composite repairs, composite quality assurance, composite material characterization, qualification, and optimization. Dr. Haider has in-depth knowledge and understanding of composite manufacturing process development and optimization. His extensive experience includes composite part & tool development, composite manufacturing, quality assurance, coupon & full-scale testing, and composite repairs for aerospace, wind energy, and automotive applications. He has also been involved with setting up and qualifying composite processing equipment in a controlled contamination area, such as a clean room. Dr. Haider holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering specializing in composite structures. He is certified by the Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and has formal training in engineering project management. Dr. Haider has successfully managed multimillion-dollar composite engineering projects from design to final implementation and production qualification. Dr. Taqi Ahmad Cheema

Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Abdul Karim

Prof. Dr. Mohsin Ali Raza
Dr. Mohsin Ali Raza has over 23 years of research and teaching experience in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. He earned his B.Sc. in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, in 2000. A year later, in 2001, he began his academic career as a lecturer at the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, University of the Punjab, where he is now a professor.
Dr. Raza earned his MSc. (Engg) degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, in 2007. In 2008, he received the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award, co-sponsored by EPSRC and Morgan Advanced Materials, UK, to pursue a PhD at the University of Leeds, UK. He completed his PhD in Materials Engineering in 2012.
Upon returning to the University of the Punjab, Dr. Raza established a research group at the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. His group focuses on carbon nanomaterials, graphene, polymer composites, ceramic materials, and energy materials. He has successfully led numerous industrial research projects and supervised many MPhil, MSc, and BSc (Engg.) theses. To date, he has produced three PhD graduates and is currently supervising four more.
In 2014, Dr. Raza secured a grant of PKR 17 million from HEC for the project "Synthesis of Graphene Nanoplatelets and Development of Graphene-Nanoplatelets-Based Composites for Electronic Packaging and Functional Applications," which was successfully completed. He was instrumental in establishing state-of-the-art materials characterization laboratories at the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering.
Dr. Raza has authored more than 64 research articles in peer-reviewed, impact factor journals and has presented at over 25 international conferences. His work has a cumulative impact factor exceeding 220 with citation more than 1700. He is also involved in teaching B.Sc., MSc, and PhD courses at the institute.
Notably, Dr. Raza has been ranked among the top 2% of researchers globally, according to an evaluation by Stanford University in its 7th version.
Currently, he serves as the Director of the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the University of the Punjab.
Dr. Hafiz Farhan Maqbool
Dr. Hafiz Farhan Maqbool received a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Mechatronics and Control Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, an M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea, and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds, U.K. He is currently working as an Associate Professor with the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (Faisalabad Campus), Pakistan. In addition, he is the Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in the Prostheses domain within the Human-Centered Robotics Lab (HCRL) at UET Lahore, a part of the National Centre of Robotics and Automation (NCRA). This project, supported by an HEC grant of approximately PKR 84 million, is currently underway. His research interests include biomechatronics, lower limb biomechanics, prosthetics/orthotics, machine learning, and assistive robotics.
Prof. Dr. Emad Ud Din

Prof. Dr. Rizwan Mehmood Gul
Dr. Rizwan M. Gul is a respected figure in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, where he has served since October 2008. Prof. Dr. Umar Shahbaz Khan
Dr. Umar Shahbaz Khan earned his bachelor’s in Mechatronics Engineering from the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology, in 2005. After graduating, he served at Siemens Pakistan for nine months as an engineer, and during this short period, he was actively involved in many national-level projects. In 2006, he left for his PhD at the University of Liverpool, UK under NUST faculty development scholarship. He completed his PhD in 2011 at the young age of 28 years. He joined the college of E&ME as Assistant Professor in April 2011. He remained the Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department from Nov 2015 to Jan 2020. He has completed an Ignite-funded project worth 14.12 million on “Myo Electric Prosthetic Upper limb,†the product of which is commercially available as myobionics. He is also the National Centre of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) project director, which is worth 1.295 Bn. NCRA is a consortium of 11 labs established over 13 universities. His research interests include prostheses, embedded systems, robotics, and image processing.
Dr. Noman Naseer

Prof. Dr. Adeel Waqas
Dr. Adeel Waqas is the US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) Principal at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Pakistan. With a Ph.D. in Energy Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and postdoctoral training in Solar Energy from the University of Science and Technology of China, Dr. Waqas is a seasoned expert in renewable energy. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan. Throughout his career, Dr. Waqas has focused on Thermal Energy Storage, Solar Thermal Energy Systems, and Energy Efficiency, publishing over 40 articles in international journals and presenting 15+ conference papers. His research, cited over 2400 times on Google Scholar, has earned him recognition, including prestigious fellowships from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Dr. Waqas has secured substantial research grants, collaborating with organizations like the World Bank and USAID to advance projects ranging from energy transition for climate resilience to solar space heating. With his expertise and commitment to sustainable energy solutions, Dr. Waqas remains at the forefront of Pakistan's renewable energy research and implementation.
Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber
With over 23 years of professional experience in the fields of energy generation, energy management, and sustainability along with academic experience, Khuram is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Energy Institute of the United Kingdom, and a professional member of the Pakistan Engineering Council and Pakistan HVACR Society. Khuram is a HEC approved PhD supervisor, reviewer of high impact factor journals, and is also a program evaluator (PEV) of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Khuram holds a Ph.D. degree and a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from London South Bank University, UK, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Khuram is the ex-Energy Manager of the Queen Mary University of London. Khuram’s skills center on embedding energy efficiency and environmental objectives into industrial projects and organizations.
With numerous international trainings, high-impact factor publications, and his vast experience in industrial and community-related projects focusing on energy efficiency, climate change, health, and the environment, Khuram is considered a well-known energy expert in his circles. Khuram has won two major projects which mainly focus on deforestation and health. He has recently received huge appreciation from Mangla Power House authorities for designing and installing a cooling system for 100 MW Francis Turbine which has resulted in financial savings of nearly 20.4 million PKR daily. He has presented his University on different national media channels. Khuram is currently working as Chairperson and Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Pakistan. Khuram is also working as Energy Manager at the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) on a volunteer basis.
Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Ali
Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Ali, currently working as an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, received his doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary, University of London, United Kingdom, in 2011. He was a postdoc at Water and Energy Laboratory of University of California at Merced, United States, during 2015-16.
Thermal sciences, heat transfer, and solar energy are his major areas of interest. Over the span of several years, he supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students and his work produced more than 367 papers featured in various reputed international journals. He also participated at several international and national conferences as an invited speaker and delivered keynote talks. His other research interests include electronics cooling, condensation, nanofluids, heat transfer devices, and thermal management.
He is the recipient of the "Best Young Research Scholar Award" for 2017 in the Engineering category, conferred by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan at the 7th HEC Outstanding Research Award Ceremony. He also had the honor of receiving HEC's Best Research Paper Award (2013/2014) and Research Productivity Award by Pakistan Council of Science and Technology (2016-17). Apart from his academic duties, he is actively involved with editorial duties at several international journals, notably Heat Transfer Engineering (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (Springer), International Journal of Thermofields (Elsevier), Journal Thermal Science, and Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
