COURSE DESCRIPTION Course Instructor: Dr. Gulistan Raja, Assistant Professor, EED.
The importance of multimedia is increasing day by day with the exponential growth of Internet. Wide ranges of technologies are covered by multimedia systems which include multimedia data compression, multimedia authoring & data representation, multimedia communication and retrieval. The main objective of this course is to provide explanation of concepts used in the area of multimedia compression and communication. The concepts developed in lectures will be enhanced by their practical implementation. Students will learn about:
-> Lossless compression algorithms
-> Lossy compression methods
-> Audio coding and compression
-> Multimedia network communications
-> Video compression techniques
-> Some significant research papers in area of multimedia
