COURSE DESCRIPTION Objective: Objective of this course is to give students the basic ideas/concepts of physical science which would help them in better understanding of the applications of these sciences on engineering and technology.
Course Outline: Review of vectors, Electrostatics: Electric Charge, Coulomb’s law, Electric Field, Electric Intensity, Electric Potential, Capacitors, Electricity and Magnetism: Magnetic Field, Magnetic Force, Electric Current, Faraday’s law, Lens’s Law, Ampere’s law and applications, Electric and Magnetic circuits: Resistance, Ohm’s Law, simple Resistive Circuits, Kirchoff’s Laws, Network Theorem, RC and RL circuits, Fundamental of Semiconductor Physics: Band Theory, Semiconductors (intrinsic and extrinsic), pn junction, pn-junction as rectifier, Clipper and Clamper Circuits, Zener Diode and voltage Regulator, Transistors, Bipolar junction Transistor, BJT Biasing Circuits, Q-Point, BJT as a switch, Amplifiers, Metal Oxide Transistors, nMOS, pMOS and CMOS inverter circuits,
