Industrial Tour 2019 Session

Industrial tour is the initiative of every university to provide the student about the real-world example of work that they will perform after entering into their practical life. These types of tours act as a road map for their future and they decide their career properly.

UET, Taxila is one of those university who is serious for conducting this initiative. Software department of UET Taxila had organized an industrial tour to the software house in Lahore for the student of Software Engineering 2 k19 session, the senior most session of UET Taxila.

For this, management team organized 2 coaches that contain 77 student, 2 Teachers, 2 drivers and 2 conductors. The coaches departed from the university from the date 20th October 2022 at 7:00 AM. The weather, environment, scenery of mountains was so beautiful that everyone was enjoying and also excited for the tour. The coaches reached to the destination (i.e Lahore) at 4:00 PM due to the poor weather condition. As it was decided that the tour to the software houses will be held on 21st October 2022, hence, after reaching the city Lahore, first thing was to getting fresh. For this the student went to "Package Mall", where they stayed for two hours and removed the tiredness of travelling.

After that it was decided that the dinner would be in "Fortress". Hence, after departure from Package Mall, the students halt at Fortress. At 10:15 PM, this caravan had reached the UET Lahore, the place where they stay for three days. The staff was so corporative. As it was night, hence, female students were left at the girls hostel firstly and then the coaches moved toward male hostel. Every necessary thing required for the stay in hostel were provided to the female student, However, according to the male students they suffer a lot in those 2 nights as nothing was provided to them.

In 21st October 2022, the first place the student had visited at 11:00 PM, was the Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS). The teachers of UET Lahore had given the visitors a warm welcome. A seminar was conducted with the collaboration of KICS department (of UET Lahore) and IEEE members. The seminar was consisted of different topic:

First topic that came into the discussion was about the IEEE's work that build the character of students and opportunity. They also guide the student about how they can apply to attend the international seminars around the world. Then the importance of technology came into discussion where they lecturers had mentioned their project that they had created and that their research was going on. Some of the projects in which their research continue was person detection system, search engine etc. Lastly, they discussed about the importance of resume writing and its impact in applying for a job. They had guided the student how to write an attractive resume and how to perform during interview.

After the seminar, refreshments were provided to the students of UET Taxila and then the student had visited different labs of IT departments. Each lab had different projects work web-developing, research work, digital image processing, search engine, artificial intelligence and artificial neutral networks all those working took place in different labs. The IT department working on "Urdu Search Engine" that would have the same functionality as Google. They also have their own server that was place in a room where air conditioner remains on to make it cool. The labs names are given as:

After that informative tour to KICS and performing Jumma prayer, the students headed toward a software house called Invozone at 3:00 PM. The Invozone is a software house having 4 floors and that work on every IT related content. Their moto is "If Not Now, When?". This moto itself is a very self-aware sentence. They also welcomed the student with full warmly gesture. Firstly, they showed different floors of the building containing different work. Students were introduced by the members of the Invozone center. And a presentation was given by the head and manager of the center, regarding career and setting goals. After that students were entertained by the refreshment.

At 6:00 PM students left the Invozone and halt at "Emporium Mall". The mall was celebrating the Halloween day, hence, innovation got to see in that mall as compare to the normal day. At 9:00 pm student arrived at the university again and started their preparation for the next, the last day of the tour.

On 22nd October 2022 at 8:00 AM students see off the UET Lahore.
