HackXila2025 (May-2025)

HackXila 2k25 - powered by MLSA UET Taxila in collaboration with GDSC UET Taxila - was a one-of-a-kind student-led hackathon that brought together creativity, technical skill, and collaborative innovation under one roof. The event was held on May 6th, 2025, on campus with great zeal and energy, featuring a variety of competitions that tested participants' skills across multiple domains.

We were thrilled to host over 30 participants from Islamic University Islamabad, 30+ students from Comsats University Wah, as well as participants from Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), NAMAL University of Mianwali , Pak Austria, and other universities across Islamabad region. Their enthusiastic participation made HackXila a truly national-level celebration of student innovation.

HackXila featured four exciting modules:

• Hack Idea: Teams were given a real-world case problem and three hours to ideate, prototype, and pitch their solutions in front of a panel of expert judges.
• Prompt Engineering: A time-critical challenge where participants generated creative AI prompts to solve a cultural-tech scenario using GenAI tools.
• Speed Typing Competition: A quick-fire challenge to test speed, accuracy, and presence of mind under pressure.
• Quiz Competition: A multi-round knowledge war spanning logic, technology, and general knowledge.

The Hack Idea pitches were evaluated by a distinguished panel of four judges:

• Dr. Ali Javed - Assistant Professor, Department of Software Engineering, UET Taxila
• Dr. Ehsan Irshad - Program Manager at NLP Laboratory, Research Associate at Comsats and IT Manager Robotics
• Dr. Nudrat Nida - Artificial intelligence consultant NUST, Senior Researcher at COMSATS
• Engineer Zubair Iqbal - Data Scientist at Teradata, Founder of Aurcas Company

Each judge brought their expertise and diverse perspectives to the table, ensuring fair and thoughtful evaluation of each pitch.

We proudly distributed PKR 34,000 in total prize money, rewarding the brilliance and effort of our participants:

• Hack Idea - PKR 20,000
• Quiz Competition - PKR 10,000
• Prompt Engineering - PKR 2,000
• Speed Typing - PKR 2,000

The closing ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of:

• Dr. Adeel Akram
• Other respected faculty members from the Software Engineering department

Their encouragement and engagement with the students uplifted the entire spirit of the event, highlighting the importance of such collaborative, skill-driven platforms.

HackXila 2k25 was more than just a competition - it was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and tech-driven problem-solving. The event truly marked a milestone in our community’s journey of innovation and student empowerment.
