A Journey of Huawei ICT Middle East Competition 2022-2023
Huawei Global ICT Competition 2022-2023 launched in September 2022. From 135 Universities in Pakistan, 12000 students participated. From the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, 370 students registered for this competition. To develop awareness among students, 06 orientation sessions were organized in University by Dr. Zeshan Iqbal, Focal Person of Huawei ICT Academy, Department of Computer Science with the help of an ambassadors’ team comprising 10 persons (02 from Computer, Software, Telecom, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department each). The names are Abdur Rehman khan, Ayesha Eman, Abdul Ahad, Nimra Raza, Syeda Fizza Shoaib Zaidi, Ali Asad, Kashaf Muzaffar, Abdullah Anas, Farhan Ali and Hafza Eman.Round 1: Preliminary Exam
Of the Top 500 students shortlisted in this round, from UET TAXILA, 82 students qualified for "Enablement training" from Huawei Pakistan was organized at 6 selected centers in Pakistan. UET Taxila was among them. 5 days of training from 3rd to 7th November 2022 was organized. The training was hosted by the Department of Computer Science.Round 2: National Finals Written Exam
From UET Taxila, 61 students appeared in the National Final written exam. The top 100 students were shortlisted from all over Pakistani Universities out of which 32 students were from UET TAXILA.Round 3: National Finals Interview 1
The interviews were conducted by a panel of 5 faculty members selected by Huawei. The panelists were from UET Taxila (Dr. Zeshan Iqbal), NUST (Dr. Arsalan Ahmad), KICS UET Lhr (Mr. Muhammad Zubair), MUET Jamshoro (Dr. Faheem Yar Khuhawar), and Corvit Systems Lhr. (Mr. Kashif Hussain), The top 30 students were selected after interviews and forwarded to the next round. From UET Taxila, 5 students qualified.Round 4: National Finals LAB
During this round, a 4-hour extensive lab exam was taken from the top 30 students. The top 15 students were shortlisted for the next round. Among them, 02 were from UET TAXILA.Round 5: National Finals Interview 2
During the second interview top, 15 were re-evaluated by the Huawei Pakistan Technical team to select the Top 6 National Finalists. Congratulations to Muhammad Bilal Gul for being selected as National Finalist from UET TAXILA in Top 08. After 02 weeks lab Top 06 finalists were divided into 02 teams and selected to participate in Huawei ICT Middle East Competition, Oman, 21-22 December 2022.Excellent Tutor Award - Huawei Middle East Competition 2022-2023
Two tutors from Pakistan, Team 1 Instructor, Dr. Faheem Yar Khuhawar, MUET Jamshoro, and Team 2 Instructor, Dr. Zeshan Iqbal from UET TAXILA were selected as the best tutors from Pakistan and went to Oman with selected teams to receive awards and manage student exams.Huawei Middle East Competition 2022-2023
Pakistan Team One including Team Lead Faeez Arain and Asad Anwar from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Jamshoro and Maryam Fareed from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) under the Team Instructor Faheem Yar Khan Khuhawar secured the second position in the Middle East contest.
While Pakistan Team Two consisting of Team Lead Umar Raza from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES),
Eman Yaqoob from LCWU, and Fatima Shafique from MUET under Team Instructor Zeshan Iqbal put their best effort into the competition
and achieve outstanding performance award.

The top winners (1st and 2nd Teams) will represent the Middle East in the Huawei Global Finals Competition that will take place in
Shanghai, China next year.
The instructors said the students had high spirits as they burnt the midnight oil to prove their mettle in the comity of nations and
add one more feather to the national cap.
Expressing gratitude to HUAWEI Pakistan, Team Lead Muhammad Faeez said he had no idea that he would be given such a massive platform
to demonstrate his abilities and further necessary training to polish his skills in the ICT sector.
It is worth mentioning that the Jordan Team comprises students Hamzah Al-Zubaidi and Aws Al-Rayya from Princess Sumaya University for
Technology (PSUT) and YazanAl Shannik from Yarmouk University won the first prize of $20,000.
