Thank you for considering the Department of Telecommunication Engineering
(TED) at the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila for
your studies. As the Department Chair, I extend a very cordial welcome
to all of you, and I encourage you to look at what TED offer in
terms of undergraduate and graduate education, research, innovation,
technology transfer, entrepreneurship, services, and career advancement.
It is my great pleasure to share with you that TED has launched
initiatives that will bring our engineering curricula to the forefront
of the 21st century education, graduating talented engineers who
will be able to start working immediately in a demanding global
market. The first floor of the building has been completed - the
new floor will house the state-of-the-art IoT laboratory, conference
room and departmental library which will be effective in third quarter
of 2016; a massive effort is underway to create a support and resource
infrastructure second to none that will complement our programs
emphasizing 'hands on experience'.
We offer both an exceptional quality of education and unique programs
and degrees. The TED offers undergraduate and graduate degrees,
currently making the University of Engineering and Technology Taxila
the one of the few universities in Pakistan offering such degrees!
Our undergraduate programs and degrees center on the strong foundations
of coupling theory, applications and experimentation. Small sections
and laboratory based courses offer opportunities for active learning,
better engagement and participation, as well as better instructor-student
interactions. We focus on: continuous curriculum enhancements and
revisions throughout all undergraduate programs. The curriculum
exposes students to all aspects of engineering, providing them with
the fundamental knowledge every engineer should have, and allowing
them to make an informed decision about the discipline they want
to follow. Further, we have incorporated ethics throughout our curricula
and we will introduce new courses in engineering entrepreneurship,
patents and intellectual property rights, which lay the foundations
for the successful businesswoman and businessman of the future.
An additional advantage of our curricula is student involvement
in research. As such, students have opportunities to be part of
funded research projects in addition to and on top of their final
At the graduate level, TED offers MSc and PhD degrees in Telecommunication
Engineering. At the Master's level, we have Full-time and Part-time
students,likewise at PhD level. These programs have been designed
to accommodate the professional engineer who wants a graduate degree
in a limited time-frame. Our graduate programs follow thematic concentrations
focusing on basic, applied research and development, coupled with
continuous collaboration with our industrial and academic linkages.
We are establishing the new research laboratories and continuously
enhancing the existing ones as they are essential to our educational
and teaching philosophy, but also help us in solidifying research
and development producing prototypes and introducing cutting-edge
technologies leading to industrial innovation. I encourage you to

The TED Vision is to be a leader in educating, creating and graduating
today's and tomorrow's Telecom engineers! This includes investing
in the intellectual and human capital of each individual student,
focusing on both breadth and depth of knowledge, multidisciplinary
and integrated education, and meeting and exceeding current and
future challenges in telecommunication engineering. We envision
providing the unique environment that fosters educational, research,
technological, economic, cultural, and social enrichment worldwide.
