MS Data Science

Eligibility criteria

Students with 16 years of education in the following domains (Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics) are eligible for admission, provided that they have taken the following deficiency courses.

Deficiency Courses

• Programming Fundamentals (Core Programming Course)
• Data Structures & Algorithms OR Design & Analysis of Algorithms
• Database Systems

Deficiency Courses Policy

Candidates selected for admission who lack prior knowledge in the prerequisite courses will be required to complete the identified deficiency courses within the first two semesters of the MS Data Science program. These courses will be determined by the Board of Postgraduate Studies (BoPGS) during the admission process.

As these prerequisite courses are not part of the MS curriculum, students will be permitted to enroll in them as non-credit courses offered at the undergraduate (BS) level. Completion of these courses is mandatory to fulfill the degree requirements in accordance with HEC guidelines.

To be eligible for admission, a candidate must have obtained a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or 60% marks in their previous academic qualification.

Applicants are required to qualify:

• GRE/HAT General/Equivalent test conducted by testing bodies accredited by HEC, with a minimum score of 50%, OR
• Test of the equivalent level conducted by the University with a minimum score of 50%.

Admission Process

The university typically admits students to the MS (Data Science) program twice a year — in the Fall and Spring semesters. Interested applicants are required to submit a duly filled application form, which is available both on the official UET website and at the office of ASR&TD. Admission announcements are made on the university’s official website https://web.uettaxila.edu.pk/pgadmissions whenever the admission cycle is open.
