SED History

Department of Civil Engineering was one of those three departments which were initially started at the inception of the University College of Engineering Taxila, as a constituent college of University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. In 1975, because of non-availability of required facilities, this new campus of UET Lahore was established in Sahiwal temporarily. In 1978, after construction of very meager facilities at the site of UCET, this campus was shifted at its new proposed location. Up to 1995, UCET was offering only BSc Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering. In 1995, MSc Engineering program was started in Structural Engineering. Later on, MSc program in Water resources and irrigation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering was also started. In 2001, PhD program was also launched.
In the department of Civil Engineering, postgraduate studies are pioneer in the structural engineering. From starting of Postgraduate studies in 1995, structural division evolved. The services of structural division to the construction industry of the country are also the pioneer one.
