PEC FYDP Cheque Distribution by Chairman PEC May 2024

On 29th of May, 2024, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, proudly hosted a momentous event, highlighting the initiatives of the Pakistan Development Committee (PPDC) under the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The event was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of UET Taxila and the esteemed Chairman of PEC, and it marked a significant milestone in promoting engineering excellence and innovation.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from the Worthy Vice Chancellor of UET Taxila. In his opening speech, the Worthy Vice Chancellor extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of PEC for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the advancement of engineering education in Pakistan. He emphasized the pivotal role of the PPDC in transforming the engineering landscape through initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). The Worthy Vice Chancellor elaborated on the three main initiatives of the PPDC: the Engineering Capstone Expo, the Symposium on Industry-Driven Curriculum and Final Year Design Projects, and the Graduate Engineers Internship Programme. He highlighted the significance of these initiatives in fostering innovation, bridging the gap between academia and industry, and equipping graduates with the necessary skills to excel in their professional careers.

Following the Worthy Vice Chancellor's address, the Respected Chairman of PEC took the stage to provide a comprehensive overview of the PPDC's objectives and initiatives. He expressed his gratitude to UET Taxila for hosting the event and reiterated the Council's commitment to elevating the status of engineering education and practice in Pakistan. The Respected Chairman emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in driving innovation and ensuring that engineering graduates are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the future. He also underscored the alignment of the PPDC initiatives with the government’s strategy and the UN-SDGs, highlighting the Council's role in contributing to sustainable and inclusive growth.

One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of final year project (FYDP) funding in the form of cheques among the faculty and students of UET Taxila. The funding aims to support innovative and impactful projects, providing students with the necessary resources to bring their ideas to fruition. The distribution ceremony was a testament to the university's commitment to fostering a culture of research and innovation. Faculty members and students who received the funding expressed their gratitude and excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead.

About UET Taxila

With phenomenal increase in students' enrollment in 1970's, a plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore was conceived. As a result of that, the University College of Engineering Taxila was established.
