Stanford University has recently released an update of the list that represents the top 2 percent of the most-cited scientists in various disciplines. The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings list for 2024 is based on citations from 2022, updated to the end of 2023, and uses metrics like h-index, co-authorship adjustments, and a composite citation score (c-score), which reflects a scientist’s influence rather than just their publication count. Scientists are ranked based on Scopus data, with the top 100,000 or those in the top 2% of their field included. The report was prepared by a team of experts led by Prof. John Ioannidis, the eminent Professor at Stanford University. Researchers are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields based on Science-Metrix's established classification, drawing from Scopus data provided by Elsevier through ICSR Lab.
With phenomenal increase in students' enrollment in 1970's, a plan to establish additional campuses of the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore was conceived. As a result of that, the University College of Engineering Taxila was established.
